Pharmaceuticals are the traditional industry of Toyama Prefecture with more than 300 years history. In the year 2000, the prefecture government has started "Toyama Biotechnology Valley Project" to promote modern biotechnology-related industries. Research activities of local universities, public research institutes and private industries in Toyama and Takaoka area were organized and coordinated in taking advantage of sharing their research resources in the biotechnology field which had been cultivated through the research and development of traditional herbal medicines, medical supplies, and other related fields.
The researches on tailor-made healthcare, genome analysis, biochips, and bio-informatics, proteomics, and other advanced life science and technologies are currently conducted by various research groups in the project. The Biotechnology Valley Project provides a cooperation system between medical science and engineering science to promote researches in medical biotechnology for the integration of new industries.
In the Toyama/Ishikawa region, as the first stage of Knowledge Cluster Initiative Project, Toyama Medical Bio Cluster and Ishikawa High Tech Sensing Cluster projects were launched in 2003.
SC World Inc. has been established in 2005 to exploit technologies developed in such Knowledge Cluster Initiative Project for introduction to the society.
Based on results up till 2008, in an effort to accelerate the development of clusters, Hokuriku Innovation Cluster for Health Science; Regional Innovation Strategy Support Program sponsored by MEXT (Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) was implemented as the second stage of Knowledge Cluster Initiative Project.

Technology
The Department of Immunology, Graduate School of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Toyama, with which we are carrying out collaboration, has joined Toyama Medical Bio Cluster and Hokuriku Innovation Cluster for Health Science and has developed a novel technology (hTEC10 system) for obtaining antigen specific TCR genes from human peripheral blood within 10 or more several days.
We are trying to establish a practical system for clinical application of hTEC10 technology in order to obtain the most suitable and effective TCR gene for cancer and infection.
